Alfred Molina Set to Reprise Doctor Octopus Role in Spider-Man 3

Tom Holland is the second Spider-Man to receive a live-action trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and although the production for the untitled threequel to the masked menace's ongoing series faced pandemic-related delays, the movie itself has strong intentions to make up for the lost time.

Hopefuls have been scrutinizing every detail that has surfaced surrounding Marvel's next Spider-Man, and devotees to the webhead have gained confidence that a live-action Spider-Verse, a multidimensional crossover of past Spider-Men (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) will swing into theaters. It's a long shot for those who want to see their favorites take up the mantle again, but recent evidence from the set has alluded to their manifestations coming true to an extent.

Yahoo! has relayed information from The Hollywood Reporter that actor Alfred Molina will reprise his role as antagonist Doctor Octopus in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Molina's fan-favorite villain went toe-to-toe with a suited-up Maguire in 2004 before the Spider-suit was passed on to Garfield for a two-film deal with FOX. The announcement of Molina's baddie coming back follows a previous announcement of Jaime Foxx returning as Electro for the same film, who was the big bad alongside Dane DeHaan's Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, where Garfield was the web-slinging, too-cool teen.

Molina's announcement has ignited excitement in fans, who have taken this piece as another clue to their anticipated big-screen crossover event. There is still plenty kept under wraps and still unknown about the movie, but the open-ended approach to Marvel's secretive attitude may speak louder than any marketing campaign.
