Christopher Eccleston to Return to Doctor Who

It's been fifteen years since Eccleston has taken up his role as The Doctor, and rekindled the return of BBC's Doctor Who in 2005. After a series of passed torches from Tennant, to Smith, then Capaldi and now Whittaker, Eccleston will return to the T.A.R.D.I.S. with a twist.

Eccleston's televised tenure may be been for a single season alongside former executive producer Russell T. Davies, but he will be lending his voice to Big Finish as the Ninth Doctor for a Who-centric audio drama. The series, respectably titled Ninth Doctor Adventures, will be a complete 12-episode series that can be currently preordered. "After 15 years it will be exciting to revisit the Ninth Doctor's world, bringing back to life a character I love playing," Eccleston confirmed.

It's been quite some time since Who fans have taken a extensive look at the Ninth Doctor and the defined state of his world and the stoic, realistic view that he approaches his universe with. Ninth Doctor Adventures could easily bring about more of Eccleston's matter-of-fact Time Lord reincarnation. Time Lord Victorious is said to be an "epic Doctor Who story," bringing back fan favorites such as David Tennant, Paul McGann, and now, Eccleston.

The lockdown has inflamed an awakening for the Doctor Who fandom and has stirred inspiration into former showrunners Davis and Steven Moffat. Ninth Doctor Adventures and Time Lord Victorious may separate themselves from the television series but brings back beloved names in succedent.
