'Deadpool 3' Will Be in The Marvel Cinematic Universe with R-Rating

After Fox was purchased by Disney, it gave way to open-ended possibilities and a number of questions surrounding the future of the Marvel franchise in which Fox had controlled.

In an interview with Collider, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the long-awaited Deadpool 3 would take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The previous two Deadpool films were under 20th Century Fox's production roster. Moving forward, Ryan Reynolds' merc with a mouth will now call the MCU 'home.'

To pile on to the Deadpool news, it has been established that the threequel has earned its keep for an R-Rating that it has been awarded before. Though the film isn't anticipated to enter production until 2022, Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin have started crafting the screenplay, including Reynolds in the process.

"[Deadpool 3] will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now," Feige said. "It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life."

Reynolds may be an actor in high demand at the moment, but the MCU is holding its own in the meantime. WandaVision debuts on Disney+ on January 15, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hot on its tail with a March premiere. Though subject to change Black Widow is gunning for a May 7 release. Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are currently filming, while Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are to release in 2021. Deadpool 3 does not yet have a release date.
