Disney to Announce New Lucasfilm and Marvel Slate
Investor Day sits on the horizon, which means that Disney is currently preparing to announce new projects from their leading franchises including Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Pixar.
According to an industry report and to Comic Book, on December 10, a four-hour event will sink into the specifics of Disney's business mechanism, spotlighting the importance of Disney+'s development, which was the centerpiece of last year's event. It was last year's Investor Day where Disney announced Marvel Studio's upcoming series, with Loki, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and WandaVision leading the pack.
Beset cinematic and televised media, Disney Investor Day 2020 will present new titles from major brand names that lie under Disney's all-encompassing hold on entertainment. Deadline reports that Disney will also take advantage of their time to display their less-popular live-action re-imagines, drawing attention to Emma Stone's Cruella and the Tom Hanks-helmed Pinnochio, which will both release on Disney+.
The long-awaited Black Widow will be revisited during Investor Day, bringing about news regarding the titular heroine's stand-alone which was initially intended to kick off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in May. Consequentially to the COVID-19 pandemic, Marvel suffered a tremendous loss and watched a year pass the studio up without a release since 2009.
In October, The Walt Disney Company had announced a rebrand of how their media was delivered, focusing on in-home streaming instead of seeking hoops to jump through for theatrical releases. CEO Bob Chapek ensures that there will be more information about Disney's restructuring during Investor Day. The Walt Disney Company will webcast Investor Day 2020 on Thursday, December 10, starting at 4:30 p.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. PT.
"I think you’re going to hear a lot more on December 10 when we have our next investor conference," he told CNBC. "We plan to share a lot more details in terms of how this strategy and how this reorganization then translates into business actions, so I look forward to sharing a lot more on December 10."
