'Tomb Raider' Anime Ordered for Netflix
Legendary is seeing an uptick in their production boom outside of the cinematic arts even Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), Dune (2021), and Tomb Raider 2 well on their way. Paired with the announcement that a Skull Island anime has been ordered, Tomb Raider will be adapted in a similar fashion.
Reports declare that Lara Croft will be seen in a way that she's never been seen before, through a brief logline and a Tweet reiterating an analogous summary for the anime series:
"Lara Croft, one of the video game world’s most iconic adventurers, makes her anime debut in an all-new series. Picking up after the events of the highly successful Tomb Raider video-game reboot trilogy, the animated series will chart the globetrotting heroine’s latest, greatest adventure. Twenty-five years after her first game appeared, Lara continues to explore new territory."
Tasha Huo has been tapped by Netflix to both executively produce and write the series. Alongside her, Howard Bliss, Stephan Bugaj, Dmitri M. Johnson, and Jacob Robinson will serve as producers, overseeing the Tomb Raider anime.
With the news breaking not long ago about Netflix's latest anime, it's not clear yet what the show will decide to focus on. In any case, it seems like the beloved archeologist is headed to Netflix in a new form, and she won't be on her own.
